SRVirginia: A 501(c)3 nonprofit educational organization.
Now the third largest Sons of the Revolution chapter in the United States, behind New York and Pennsylvania, our state society application was approved by the General Society on June 7, 1895. Starting with twenty charter members formed what was then called the Virginia Society in Richmond, Virginia, our Society today celebrates more than 500 active members.
The following February 22, 1896, our first Annual General George Washington’s Birthday Celebration began – a tradition we continue today. In 1902, our first Student Scholarship was awarded a prize of $25 in gold for the best essay.
During subsequent years through today, SRVirginia members supported our country through two world wars and beyond, and contributed funds to help preserve antiquities, create honorary monuments, and mark graves of veterans and Revolutionary contributors.
