The nation’s 5th president, James Monroe, will be honored Monday, April 28 with Color Guard and band followed by a wreath-laying ceremony at Hollywood Cemetery in Richmond.

To pay homage to the nation’s leaders, wreath-laying ceremonies are held annually at the gravesite of each of the former presidents on their birthday.  Monroe’s family members along with state and local dignitaries are anticipated to be in attendance – local dignitaries will deliver a Gubernatorial Proclamation.

As such, the James Monroe Foundation will be hosting a separate wreath laying event in celebration of the President’s 267th Birthday with a guest speaker and the support of many lineage Societies, including the Sons of the Revolution in the Commonwealth of Virginia.  Following both of these ceremonies, a lunch reception will be held at the Taylor House, 2325 Monument Avenue in Richmond.

This event is hosted by the James Monroe Foundation – of which the Sons of the Revolution are a proud participant.  Photos of past events can be found on the event page under photo gallery.
