Historical Events of Interest – Including VA250

• Sail Virginia – Waterside – Norfolk, Virginia:  Norfolk, Hampton Roads, and Virginia’s Chesapeake Bay region will welcome an international fleet of tall ships, military vessels, and character ships to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the United States. June 19 – 23rd.
• IllumiNATION: To honor America’s 250th anniversary, this special event features a breathtaking video art projection that brings the American story to life.  June 25 – 28 at 6:00 PM.
• Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello:  Celebrate America’s 250th anniversary with family activities and a Naturalization Ceremony, as Monticello’s West Lawn turns into an outdoor courtroom where dozens take the Oath of Citizenship. July 4th – 9:00 am – 2:30 pm
• 250 Years Together – Colonial Williamsburg:  On July 4, 2026 at 8:00 pm, in commemoration of America’s Independence, this special will bring Virginians of all ages to Williamsburg, the capital city of revolutionary Virginia, and be broadcast live on PBS.
